Dave Barry takes North Dakota (and the local press eagerly awaits).
Best thing about the visit: a city-wide potluck dinner. “People living north of DeMers Avenue should bring jello salad; those living south of DeMers should bring hotdish. Those living east of the Red River should bring bars.”

Very amusing photos of the stand-up. It seems like they are being very good-spirited about Dave’s comments.
This was very amusing – it actually gave me a better impression of North Dakota than my husband had given me from his business trips there.
Being a proud North Dakota native – and having graduated from the University of North Dakota in Grand Forks – I can assure you Dave will freeze his ass off if he’s gonna go ice fishing in January. The last time I was in Grand Forks in January it was 100 below windchill. Ahh. But as the locals say, “it keeps the riff raff out”.
Luke, I posted that just for you. Hell, my one visit to NoDak was in June and I was freezing my ass off.
I went in July and it was awesome. Bismarck was quite lovely. It had one of the coolest veteran’s memorials I’ve seen. Also Jamestown has I believe the only living white buffalo, or at least they did when I was there. I’ve lost touch over the past couple of years.
I must admit I was taken in by ND in July.
