If you’re one of those people who obsesses over the difference between an INFP and an ESTJ — and you know who you are — the Hartman Value Profile may be for you. As This American Life put it last weekend (about 42 minutes into that RealAudio file):
“A standardized test, just eighteen questions long, created by scientists, that not only can tell you things about yourself that will haunt you for weeks, it can diagnose just how good you are…and how evil.”

Um, OK. According to this test, I’m living, breathing evil.
It revealed that I’m … average! And I mean REALLY, REALLY average. EXTREMELY average, pardon the contradiction in terms. Translation: I’m BO-RING …
And it took how many PhD’s to figure this out?
Seriously though, it did give me some variations around average, but as far as “revealing” goes, I’m a bit underwhelmed. Maybe that’s just because the test subject was ME — Oatmeal In, Oatmeal Out … It’s intriguing how both short and thorough the test is though …
O no! I’m a bleeding heart liberal. Explains my views on war with Iraq I suppose…
This test confirmed what they always teased me about on the playground: I am very well developed in certain areas.
Apparently I’m insane.
