Watched The Pledge today. Good movie. But I still have a question, for those who’ve seen it: At the end, do we find out who the bad guy is? If so, who is he? Please leave comments, more observant viewers. (Warning: That means that if you haven’t seen the movie and hope to someday, don’t read the comments.)
Strange happenstance: I remember looking at this web page back in 1994. I even stole one of the images for my very first web page (which was, mercifully, lost to the ages long ago).

Small world — Greg Guirard is a friend of mine (although we seem to have lost touch over the last few years), and I’ve got some of his artwork hanging in my house.
well, i know that i never figured out who the ‘bad guy’ was, and it ticked me right off. and i’m a pretty observant film viewer, what with that film degree and all, so i’m reasonably sure that we weren’t meant to really know. and now, if someone much sharper than me would please sign in and tell me the REAL truth, i’d be thrilled. but wasn’t benicio del toro incredible?
okay, well we know it’s not the religious guy, right? don’t we? i got the impression it was the guy who worked with the semi-retarded lady at the shop in town. (oliver’s his name, i think.) he’s the one with the missing porcupine candy.
well, i got that impression, too, but the extent that they went to keep you guessing made me think they really wanted you to doubt yourself – sort of like the only person on the screen or in the theater who was certain was Jack! but i still think you’re right….
