This is a really good explanation. I remember a lecturer trying to use a (hypothetical) cat, cardboard box and a dish of rat poison to tell the same story – this is a much nicer version.
Don’t worry if you don’t get it, it’s pretty tough for physics students to get their heads around these thought experiments also.
